A Walk on the Wild Side: Wisdom of Terry Tempest Williams
Date: Saturday, April 11th 9 a.m. - Noon
Location: Kamon Farm and Turkey Hill, Pine Swamp Road, Ipswich
Kamon Farms a working farm and now a conservancy managed by Essex Country Greenbelt Association. Featuring fields, wooded uplands, and low-lying wetlands host a diversity of wildlife and offer extraordinary views and hiking trails—all of which connect to Turkey Hill Conservation Area. This landscape flows into the Ipswich River watershed and Parker River basin. Varied trails over uneven terrain of 2.4 miles, rated easy, offering a meditative vibe!
Who is Terry Tempest Williams? Our hike accompanied by wisdom of American writer, educator, conservationist and activist. Willliams’ writing is rooted in the varied natural beauty of the American West. Her work focuses on social and environmental justice ranging from protection of public lands and wilderness, to women’s health, to exploring humanity’s relationship to culture and nature. Note: Limit of 20 hikers

Save the date! May 23rd, Celebrating World Turtle Day on the Ipswich River
Theme: On the water we will learn about the ecosystem of turtles and migratory fish and draw upon wisdom sources celebrating the complexity and beauty that makes our watershed such an extraordinary place to call home.
What: Kayak/canoe on Ipswich River, launch from IRWA waterfront. Limit of 15 boats. (Boats and equipment available or bring own). No fee.
Time: 9 a.m. - Noon
